ANNOUNCING THE REPROCESSING OF FLEXIBLE ENDOSCOPES COURSE ONLINE!!
This course is designed for employees working in any healthcare facility (hospital, surgery center, doctor's office, etc.) performing reprocessing of flexible GI endoscopes and/or bronchoscopes. It is recommended that after completion of this education, unless you are already working in a GI/Endo department processing GI scopes, we encourage you to obtain hands-on experience processing GI scopes and bronchoscopes. This should be arranged with a local facility where you can volunteer your time.

STERILE PROCESSING ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COURSE ONLINE!
This program is designed for new or current Sterile Processing Personnel to educate them in the national standards and federal regulations that guide their practice to ensure safe and effective processing of medical and surgical devices. However, other personnel such as Peri-Operative Directors, Materials Managers and Infection Preventionists can also benefit from this course. This certificate program trains students to become Sterile Processing Technicians, where they will play important role in patient care by preventing infections. Our sterile processing technician courses include training in the following areas: Decontamination, Preparation and packing, sterilization, sterile storing and materials management.

The course concludes with a review of human relations skills and profession development, as well as an in-depth look at health care trends for the future in central services. Course Title: Central Processing Technician Certificate
Description: The Central Processing Technician certificate is a two-semester program with 29 credit hours including pre-requisites. Students should complete prerequisite courses the first semester and central sterile supply processing (CSSP) courses the second semester. Central Sterile Processing Program will cover the following objectives:
- Functional areas of Central Service Department to identify work hazards and importance of good communication skills.
- Understand the various parts of the body, body systems and how they work. Identify pathogenic microorganisms and how they affect the body.
- Describe levels of disinfections and universal precautions.
- Discuss the various aspects for the prevention of the
transmission of blood borne pathogens. - Identify purpose and requirements for the decontamination process.
- Be able to discuss the types and utilization of various types of cleaning equipment.
- Identify the grades of instrumentation and discuss the care and maintenance required. Demonstrate the cleaning and care technique for power equipment, heat sensitive items and scoped instruments.
- Understand basic principles for packaging and containerizing instrument sets. Discuss how mass metal could affect the sterile process and how to correct it.
- Discuss the various types of quality control issues. Understand sterility maintenance and shelf life techniques.
- Discuss the various sterilization methods available for hospital use. Demonstrate knowledge in sterile testing, parameters and traceability.
- Discuss benefits and dangers of ethylene oxide (EtO), a carcinogenic.
- Describe phases of pre-vac, gravity, EtO, plasma and peracetic acids sterilization cycles.
- Understanding biological requirements and record-keeping requirements.
- Discuss proper environmental conditions, stock rotation and work flow efforts.
- Describe the four principal types of inventory systems and how they work.
- Practice the skills needed in a lab-setting at the College.
- Receive hands-on sterile processing practicum in one of the area hospitals.
