Job Description Summary: Responsibilities
As an SPD Technician, you will be responsible for safe efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, distribution equipment, and case cart management.
Supports departmental initiatives to meet productivity standard and flexible staffing needs.
What You Will Do:
• Performs case pull functions.
• Determines appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
• Builds case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
• Dispatches case carts to ensure they are available to surgical/clinical procedures.
• Performs record keeping functions, e.g. processing, sterilization, quality assurance, etc.
• Performs ordering, stocking and inventory control functions.
• Maintains adequate levels, inventories, and orders supplies; stock supplies.
• Participates in in-service education.
• Other duties as assigned.
Certifications:
• None required, certification preferred.
To Be Successful the Skills You Will Need:
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Work Experience:
• Preferred one year experience in central service/sterile processing areas and successful completion of recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping, and reaching for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a continual basis; ability to push, pull, and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds and manual dexterity sufficient to perform the basic functions of the job; exposure to environments of bacterial and viral contamination, and possible exposure to sterilization gases.

Job Description Summary: Responsibilities
The role of the Sterile Processing Manager is to demonstrate AORN & AAMI guidelines as well as making sure they are being practiced by all associates. This individual must be able to perform all sterile processing technical duties while maintaining the departmental budget and improving operational efficiencies. The manager also assures that all technicians maintain certification and that all assistants become certified within the first two years of employment.
Key Accountabilities:
•Demonstrates teamwork and promotes a positive work environment. Possesses strong leadership skills and effectively manages staff hiring and scheduling to assure workflow is not interrupted.
•Rounds in all departments serviced, collaborates with the OR, interprets surgery schedules and effectively addresses all issues as they arise.
•Assures a safe work environment, and that all the necessary equipment is available and functioning properly for associates to perform their duties.
•Manages department budgets by being a good steward and finding ways to minimize waste.
•Accepts and demonstrates the importance of change, and practices and demonstrates the importance for personal and professional growth.
Qualifications - Required:
•With Bachelor's Degree: One year as a sterile processing and distribution technician, OR Technician or OR Nurse
•Without Bachelor's Degree: Five years as a sterile processing and distribution technician, OR Technician or OR Nurse
•Certified Instrument Specialist - Must obtain within 1yr of hire.
•Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Must obtain within 1yr of hire.
Desired:
•One year management in a sterile processing setting
