Position Summary:
Sterile processing technicians are key members of the Central Sterile Supply team and play an important role in the safety and quality of patient care. This department is known as the “heart of the hospital” for its critical role in providing clean, sterilized surgical instruments for the operating room and other patient care areas at UAB Medicine. The primary responsibilities for sterile processing technicians involve cleaning, inspecting, testing, sterilizing, and storing hundreds of instruments per day. The daily process includes decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments as well as case cart management to ensure surgical instrument sets are prepared for the surgical team. Ideal candidates have previous experience, strong communication and organization skills, keen attention to detail, and a strong desire to work on a team.
New hires are provided 10-12 weeks of hands-on training and certification preparation for technicians desiring to grow their career. Opportunities are available for technicians to advance to sterile supply technician II, inventory control coordinator, and sterile supply supervisor. The fast-paced surgical environment at UAB Medicine allows employees to grow in their career while supporting more than 30,000 surgical cases annually.
Compensation:
- Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.75 / hour

Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available for this unit are:
- Full-time 8-hour shifts (days, evenings, and nights)
- Full-time AM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
- Full-time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
- Full-time Weekend AM and PM: 3 12-hour shifts
- Part-time Weekend AM and PM
- Flexi/PRN

Job Description:
To provide services to any area that requires re-processing of sterile instrumentation. To clean, assemble and sterilize instrument sets for surgery. To assemble and organize case carts for surgery. To stock supplies and perform biological testing of sterilizers. To operate all sterilization equipment.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice Endoscopy Tech – **Rego Park**.
In this role, the successful candidate will require the ability to lift, push, pull, or move supplies and equipment with or without the use of assistive devices.
Handle chemical and detergents. Requires the ability to see, hear, write and communicate clearly. Potential for muscle
strain injuries requiring routine precautions. Must be able to operate automated and technical equipment. Must be able to
work rapidly and accurately. Physical stamina, good manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform within
parameters of job responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:

- Responsible for decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs and documents quality assurance processes, and random sampling of products according to protocol.
- Incorporates infection control guidelines during the transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages.
- Effectively enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system.
- Responsible for processes, documentation and delivery of sterile packages.
- Responsible for major surgical instruments preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent and Current Certification as Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor required. Good
communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and do basic mathematical
calculations. Position may require flexible work schedule, weekends and holidays. Knowledge of specific health care
products, patient care equipment, instruments, medical terminology and basic use is required. Basic computer skills.
Required Licenses: Cert Endoscope Reprocessor
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,601.00 – $60,924.76 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
