Receives, identifies, disassembles, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, sterilizes and distributes where applicable all reusable instruments and patient care equipment.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- 2 Years experience in decontamination and sterilization of supplies, surgical instruments and equipment. (Required)
- 2 Years experience in a specific area of focus including but not limited to Surgical Instrumentation, Information Management or Department Inventory Control. (Preferred)
- CRCST - Cert Reg Central Service Tech (Required)
40 hours/evenings/3:00p-11:30p/Monday - Friday/rotating weekends and holidays.

The Director Sterile Processing will manage and facilitate daily production and quality; meet the customer’s expectation by managing activities and complying with contractual obligations; provide support, training and communication to SPD management and personnel; and perform duties related to training and education for the manager, supervisors, educators and staff to include coaching, mentoring, and administrative organization. In addition, the Director will ensure SPD compliance with the New Mexico Department of Health, JCAHO, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master’s preferred.
- 5 years experience in leadership as a Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technician with knowledge of surgical instruments/principles and Infection Control practices.
- Certification from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Licensed Registered Nurse in State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico.

The successful applicant will be responsible for decontaminating, operationally checking, assembling, sterilizing and distributing reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation and implants throughout the organization. Operate steam (autoclave), H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and ETO (ethylene oxide) sterilizers, sonic equipment, automated washers and heat sealers. Store, date, rotate and distribute reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation in accordance with department and manufacturer IFU guidelines.
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Tech Program.
- Minimum 1+ year of Sterile Processing experience.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operative.
- Ability to operate complex machinery, including washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
- Demonstrated ability to competently perform multiple complex tasks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Current certification as a sterile processing technician through an accredited organization or valid certification as a surgical tech or surgery certified credential.
